Trick:
Go to the dungeon entrance facing the door. Cast the spell "OH EW RA". And you will now see an interesting person.
To get the ninjas to advance a level, stand in a hallway and throw your weapons. Gather them again, and throw them again. This also works with magic and fighter levels. Throw a spell in the air, or hit and hit again until you rise a level.
